A conservatorship is a court proceeding in which a conservator may be appointed by the court to manage a person’s finances and/or healthcare. Conservatorships may be needed when an individual no longer has the capacity to manage his/her financial affairs and/or make medical or personal care decisions. A conservatorship can also arise when an individual is unable to resist fraud or undue influence.
I represent individuals, usually family members and close friends, who petition to become a conservator. Additionally, I prepare limited conservatorships for a parent or parents of adults with developmental disabilities who cannot fully care for themselves or their finances.
I am a member of the complex-conservatorship panel for court-appointed attorneys for conservatees in Contra Costa County.
